Our Purpose

Outcomes We Strive For

We are focused on the real-world results of this foundation’s work. I am more interested in the results and outcome of this whole business foundation, and that is to:

Promote peace

Promote the advancement of unity and brotherhood

Provide physical space for the processes of peace

Provide assistance to targeted and challenged communities to improve their human conditions (shelter, nutrition, spiritual and cultural integrity), thus promoting the right to peaceful existence.

What We Seek to Do

At Qalb-al-Qamar, we are dedicated to building mosques and schools that promote the teachings of Islam. Our mission is to foster peace and harmony in the communities we serve, while providing essential education, community sustenance and self-reliance.

Our Vision

We wish to foster peace and self-reliance with Islamic education, incorporating health and science through the mosques and madrasahs in the local communities we serve. The reinforcement of co-existence and life practices for Muslims to improve awareness and provide a stage for dialogue to promote peace and brotherhood among people.

Promotion of peace through the services and projects we support.

Promote the advancement of community unity and brotherhood, fostering peace and harmonious co-existence.

Developing a network of resources both local and international to assist the community to thrive and flourish.

Supporting each community’s right for cultural integrity and peaceful existence through the improvement of the human condition, meeting basic needs such as clean air, food, shelter, and water.

The mosques and madrasahs we build, repair and add to, are spaces of information sharing and community building. They are spaces welcoming all life.

Our Meaning

A Story of Peace

Islam teaches coexistence and self reflection. This begins with community which rural mosques, albeit large or small, are areas of gathering to thrive and learn from youth through adulthood. This is our focus.

Our Impact

In many of the locations we serve, even the smallest of support can make a significant impact to the mental and physical state of the community and the people. The strength of a new or rebuilt mosque reinforces their structure, community and spirit.

The Founder

Editha C. Ghani

Registered Nurse · Poet · Mother · Amateur Astronomer · Crazy for the Moon 🌔♥️

Editha’s medical career spans three major medical centers: UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), Veterans Administration Medical Center in Palo Alto, and Kaiser Medical Center in San Jose, California.

She met her husband, Mahmood Ghani, at the University of the Philippines while they were both pursuing their studies. Mahmood earned his degree in the Pharmaceutical Industry and went on to become a scientist in Research and Development (R&D), working for various biotech companies in the U.S. He holds patents in additive enzymes (Tide, Lever), Naprosyn (Aleve), and more, marking a productive and promising career.

Sadly, Mahmood passed away two years ago, leaving a devastating void within the family. The Qalb al Qamar Foundation was formed in his honor, as he was a strong advocate for global peace through hard work and dedicated service to improve the human condition.
